Advanced Step
Description

Step aerobics is a classic cardio workout. It's lasted for decades for a simple reason: It delivers results.

The "step" is a 4-inch to 12-inch raised platform. You step up, around, and down from the platform in different patterns to boost your heart rate and breathing, and strengthen your muscles.

Step aerobics moves range from simple to advanced. The most basic is a step-up, step-down. Once you get more experienced, you do moves that take you over the top and around the step forwards, sideways, and backwards.

Description

TRX is a full-body strength workout that utilizes a person's own body weight instead of relying on machines or dumbbells.

Movement on a plane - For the duration of this class your body will be suspended while moving forward, backward, or side to side. This class is made effective by its repetition of movement to tone the adjoining muscles.

Freedom - The TRX bands give you the freedom of mobility. You are able to move around differently than you would be able to on your own, creating a foundation for core stability. The workout targets all of your muscles groups, but there is a lot of emphasis placed on the core.

A spin class (RPM) is a high intensity cycling workout that generally takes place on a stationary machine with a heavy, weighted flywheel that is linked to the pedals.

Spin classes last for around 45-60 minutes; participants can expect to leave sweaty and with heavy legs.

Nearly all classes will be led by an instructor who calls out intervals (when to pedal hard and when to slow it down) – and this person has a huge effect on the class.

The handy thing about spin classes is that they allow riders of all abilities to push themselves as much as they like, in the same place. So an Olympic champion can train alongside a complete novice without either placing any impact on the other’s training.

Spin bikes have resistance dials – so a stronger cyclist can turn their dial right up to the max, whilst a beginner may want to be a bit more restrained. No one gets dropped and no one gets frustrated.

Description

Kettlebells are cast iron weights ranging from 5 lbs to over 100 lbs, shaped like a ball with a handle for easy gripping.

The idea is to hold the kettlebell in one or both hands and go through a variety of exercises like the two arm swing, the snatch, the loaded carry and the high pull .

Some movements have you changing the weight from hand to hand as the weight swings up or as you move laterally, requiring you to stabilize the body and engage the core in a whole new way.

Other moves require power from the legs and hips to move the weight, giving you integrated whole body movements that are often missing with other types of training.
